Pre-orders for the iPhone 5 last Friday topped 2 million, double the number of pre-orders for the iPhone 4S when it was released.

New orders for the iPhone 5 in the US now have a 2-3 week wait for shipping.
Here in Hong Kong, there are no online pre-orders. One can use the iPhone App Store app to make reservations for in-store pick-up starting on Thursday.

I did the online reservation with 3 but I’d prefer to buy one without a contract and avoid having to further extend my 3 deal if possible.
