Yes MumphLT I totally agree: Having no hope for this situation getting any better - this is the very cruel part about it.

Whilst trying to live on minimum wage to see what it is like would be a start it is not reflective of what minimum wage means for most people in that position.
Managing to live on minimum wage for a month or two is difficult but do-able; you know in just a few weeks you will be free and back in comfort living in excess.
No the real problem is when you don't that to look forward to - just the grim knowledge that it's going to be toil and sacrifice and never any hope of things getting better and still seeing those that have begrudge giving even a few crumbs from their table.

Maybe some of this legislators just should try for 2 - 3 months to live on a salary HKD 22 / hour for 10 hours a day - 6 days a week = HKD 5,280 / months. It would be an experience for them and maybe seeing the other side a little bit more clearly.

Hong Kong is the most capitalist society in the world. As such, it is controlled by the rich and powerful. In "modern communism" it is the other way around ;)

"the freest economy" just means that the same rich and powerful are at their freest to do what they like with regards to the economy. There is no escape, it is the same everywhere in the end.
