Dinner at 7:30 at home, my first steak of the year. With roasted garlic mash potato and salad. Then a movie, Mesrine Part 1 – Killer Instinct. Too zonked to write a review now but highly recommend with the caveat that there is a fair amount of graphic violence in the film. Vincent Cassel is amazing.
Asleep at 11 PM. Awake at 2 AM.
Two wild pigs out in the garden tonight but did not succeed in getting a photo. There’s always tomorrow night. I’m sure they’ll be back.
Ace food blogger Cha Xiu Bao has over 300 photo albums over at Flickr, mostly from various restaurants around HK. He covers every kind of cuisine and restaurant, from Caprice to Yung Kee to dai pai dongs and cha chan tengs. And his photos are pretty darned good!
While Hong Kong films in the 2000s have mostly been a pale shadow of what was coming out of here in the 80s and 90s, there have still been some good films. Kozo from Damn You Kozo! at LoveHKFilm.com has compiled his list of the 52 best HK films of the past decade. He spread this out over 5 or 6 posts but the entire thing has been combined into a single article and posted at YesAsia.com.
Last for now – if Apple’s iPhone was once dubbed “the Jesus phone,” what does that make the Google Phone, “The Second Coming?” It’s available now. And aside from the US, they are shipping internationally – but only to the UK, Singapore and, yes, Hong Kong. Unlocked, it sells for US$529 plus shipping. Here’s the front page. Here is a chart of supported languages. The page for the “3d Tour” is taking forever to load but the tech specs are here and it looks pretty impressive. From what I’ve read, it’s got the fastest processor of any smart phone to date. Haven’t bothered to read any of the reviews on it but it looks lust-worthy. Think I’ll be holding onto my iPhone though.

If it’s anything like the other Android-run phones, it is superior to the iPhone by much.
If it had a keyboard, I’d be all over it. As such, the MotoDroid is calling my name.

There is a lot of meat on those wild boars – trap one and the Filipinas will be impressed – deep fried skin/ears, boiled bones, trotters, .. yum!
