Laptop Thoughts

Look, I know one of my many neuroses is my addiction to shopping. I know this already. You don’t need to tell me. Okay?
I’ve had that free Lenovo S10-2 netbook for a week and I’ve decided it doesn’t work for me. I could deal with the Intel Atom processor but the keyboard is just too small for me to do any serious writing or coding on it. So I’ll be putting it up for sale shortly.
But that got me thinking. I love my 15 inch MacBook in many ways but I find it too bulky and heavy to carry around on a casual basis. If my only problem with it is the size, should I then sell it off and replace it with the somewhat newer 13 inch MacBook Pro?
And then I thought, hmmm, the 13 inch MacBook Pro only weighs one pound less than the 15 inch (which weighs 5.5 pounds). So if I want to go smaller, lighter, then I have to look at something Windows – not another Atom but a smaller sized laptop that has a dual-core processor in it and a bigger keyboard than the Lenovo. Not Mac but smaller and cheaper.
So think I’m gonna sleep on it. And maybe post some ads online tomorrow, just need to check on respectable prices for this stuff.

have you considered getting a Macbook Air? there are cheap, refurbished ones on the apple website at surprisingly good prices

I’ve looked into it. But the refurbished ones in HK cost about the same as a new 13 inch MacBook Pro. I think too expensive for me.

Surely you’ll wait for the Apple Slate?

No. Even if it’s liquid gold, I don’t think a virtual keyboard would work for heavy-duty writing or programming.
