Two kinds of weight

Astonishing how much one accumulates in an office after 8 years. The amount of books, knick knacks on shelves, swag from vendors, even framed pictures on walls, and that’s not even counting stealing office supplies … even after sorting through and deciding what to recycle, what to give away, there’s still an enormous amount to bring home. I think at least a dozen trips to get it all – since I’m here for 3 more months, bringing home something every day.
On the other hand, after years of doing without, I finally have a bathroom scale at home. Before this, would just check my weight during doctor visits, and I know that before I got ill, I was somewhere between 185 and 190. Not too awful considering I’m 5’11″, but the way in which it was distributed wasn’t so great. No mincing words, I was fat.
I’ve figured out that I seem to weigh 2 pounds less when I wake up in the morning than when I go to sleep at night. 8 hours of sleeping and not eating, several trips to the toilet, whatever. The main thing is, I’ve managed to stick to the changes I made to my diet two months ago after recovering from hepatitis. Cut back on cookies and candy, replace with fruit. Less meat at meals, replace with vegetables. And so on.
This morning? 165.8 pounds! Ta-daa!
Stuff still ain’t quite distributed right and that means I may have to take the drastic task of …. exercise. Sigh.
